I'm giving a lecture tonight at the Philadelphia Sketch Club, which is the oldest art club in the United States, founded by Thomas Eakins and a bunch of miscreants from the Academy of Fine Arts who didn't feel like they really fit in. I'll be talking, in part, about how the crowd source funding works for something like The Drowning Girl: Still from a Movie that Never Existed -- a project probably no publisher would throw money at, but something that it's been relatively easy for Caitlin and I do to. I suspect this new model will allow a lot more artists to work on projects that they want to work on without having to take on so many that they have to work on to pay the bills, and as a result -- maybe more micro centers of art. I'm sure it's a good thing.
